“How did a ladder come out of Nowheresville?” asked Charlotte.
“As Princess of Imagination, my power is to think of things and make them appear out of nowhere!” replied Avery.
“I thought you just had good ideas! You didn’t tell me!” said her big sister, Charlotte, feeling hurt. “I thought we always told each other everything!”
“I’m sorry, Charlotte” said Avery. “I won’t keep anymore secrets.”
Avery thought of an elevator on the side of the mountain that would take them up and down whenever they wanted. And it appeared! It was purple, with bows and ribbons all over it.
Lea said, in a proper voice, “After you!” and the three girls walked into the elevator, with Lea following after, walking on her hands.
The elevator took them to the top of the mountain. The mountain was invisible so it looked like they were flying in mid-air!
The girls were scared to death to leave the elevator when they got to the top because they didn’t know what they were stepping out onto and didn’t known where it ended. Without Rachel around, there was no one to go first. Rachel was always ready to take a risk.
“After you!” said Charlotte.
“No after you, I insist! You’re the oldest...” said Avery.
“How about you go first, Kate?” said Lea.
“It’s safe!” said Avery, like it was nothing...
“Alright,” said Kate.
Kate walked to the front of the elevator doors and took a step. She was standing in mid-air!
“Avery, can you get me a rope, just in case I walk too far and fall off the edge of the mountain?” asked Kate.
Avery imagined a rope and handed it to Kate. She tied it around her waist, and tied the other end to the elevator. Kate didn’t realize it, but the bird she had been talking to before they built the elevator was following behind her. This one bluebird brought all his friends with him! She took the next step. “It’s safe!” she yelled.
Lea said, “Don’t look down!” as Charlotte approached Avery. “I sometimes get scared when I go off the diving board into the foam pit in gymnastics class.”
Kate felt that her foot was not placed on ground like it had been before. Her foot took a step onto nothing and she began falling down the mountain!
Kate grabbed onto the rope but she kept falling! The rope was very long, she realized. Soon it caught her just a second before hitting the ground. It all happened so fast, Charlotte wasn’t even able to grab the rope to pull her up in time! Suddenly, the bluebird and his friends flew down and grabbed Kate by her sleeves, flying her back up to the top of the mountain!
“Don’t walk over that way!” said Kate.
Avery went next. She imagined three sticks, giving them to each of the girls so they could find their way and not fall off the mountain!
“I feel something gooey!” said Charlotte, as she felt the ground with her stick. She knelt down and felt the ground with her hand. Something was on her hand, but she couldn’t see what it was! She knew that everything was candy, so it wouldn’t harm her. But she was allergic to chocolate.
“How about you taste what’s on my finger?” she said to Kate, and wiped it on her nose.
Before the girls knew what was happening, Lea grabbed something from the mountain and threw it at Charlotte!
“Chocolate fight!” Lea said. Charlotte opened her mouth surprised and there the chocolate went, into her mouth!
“It tastes like chocolate!” said Charlotte, trying to spit it out onto the ground. She started to get a little itchy. “Lea!” she yelled. “What did you do? You knew I was allergic to chocolate! You took that risk!” She started to itch rapidly.
“Oops!” said Lea. “I’m sorry!”
“We can go down to the gummy bear town and get help!” said Avery, concerned for her sister.
